Taylor Swift special edition Speak Now at Target

NEW YORK — Taylor Swift is the latest act to offer bonus album content to an exclusive retailer.
The country superstar is aligning herself with Target Corp. for the release of her latest album, "Speak Now." The store will offer fans three additional songs, remixed tunes and video content when the album is released Oct. 25.
Swift says she tries to give fans bonuses whenever she can, so she is happy to oblige with her third album.
"Speak Now" is the follow-up to her Grammy-winning, multiplatinum CD "Fearless." The first single, "Mine," has hit the country chart's top 20. She debuted the song "Innocent" — about last year's MTV Video Music Awards debacle — at this year's VMAs.

Taylor Swift and Her Mom Cheer Up a Sick Fan

Posted: May 28th, 2010 at 2:19 pm | By: Alison Bonaguro

Taylor Swift and her mom AndreaAt a Taylor Swift show in Ottawa, Ontario, last week, teenager Nicole Lavoie suffered a medical emergency and had to be taken out of the concert. But before the ambulance arrived, Swift's mom, Andrea, came into a medical room at the venue to see if she was all right. When Nicole got to the emergency room, her cell phone was ringing, and it was Taylor Swift herself calling. In a letter to theOttawa Citizen, Nicole's mother, Harriet, said, "This special singer took the time to check on my daughter's condition and talk to Nicole for several minutes about her country music to one of her biggest fans." Add this to the list of reasons why Swift has become such a good role model.

Comic book about Taylor Swift's rise to Fame

http://www.bluewaterprod.com/news/fame_taylor_swift.php

To say that Taylor Swift is riding a winning streak is an understatement. The singer/songwriter was named Billboard Magazine's Artist of the Year in 2009. She began her 2010 by winning the Grammy for Album of the Year for her sophomore album, Fearless. That album has spent more time at number-one on the Billboard charts than has any other album since 2000.

And now, the talented musician is slated to become a comic-book hero. Swift will become the latest celebrity immortalized in sequential form when her biography comic, Fame: Taylor Swift hits comic shops this July.

The comic, by Bluewater Productions, will trace Swift's rise from young singer/songwriter to mega-selling recording artist. It also chronicles her unwavering commitment to pushing herself. After all, this is a performer who began writing songs at the age of 10. Just one year later, she traveled to Nashville, determined to break into the country music scene.

Swift distributed her demo tape to every label in town, and received no offers. Of course, all that would change quickly. In 2006, she debuted with her self-titled album, and Swift's life has never been the same.

CW Cooke and PR McCormack teamed up to write the Swift bio comic, while artist Erick Adrian Marquez handled the pencils. The comic features two covers, one by Marquez and a second by JuanMar Studios. This 32-page comic will retail for $3.99.

"Learning about Taylor's life from the beginning until now made her feel like more than just the next big thing, it made me see the pop icon as a human being." Said writer CW Cooke.

Artist Marquez said he was impressed while reading the script to Swift's comic at the dedication the young artist showed even as a child.

"I really appreciate Swift's - and her parent's - drive from such a young age to be successful based on her creativity and talent," Marquez said.

Fame: Taylor Swift is the latest biography comic from Bluewater Productions. Though the independent comic company publishes comics in every genre - superhero, fantasy, adventure and young adult - it has received significant media attention for its biography comics, which have feature such high-profile subjects as Oprah Winfrey, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Colin Powell. The company's Fame line will feature Lady GaGa, 50 Cent, Robert Pattinson and soccer star David Beckham.

"We've found a niche with our bio comics,& said Darren G. Davis, president and founder of Bluewater Productions. "Our success with this comics shows that there is a much wider audience for sequential storytelling than many thought. These readers are simply looking for something other than superheroes or horror. With our bio comics, we strive to bring these new readers evenhanded, well-researched looks at some of their favorite celebrities."

Readers can advance order Fame: Taylor Swift at Amazon.com or by calling their local comic shop. They can also order Fame: Lady GaGa and Fame: Robert Pattinson, both due out in May, in the same way.

Taylor Swift's FEARLESS is Most Awarded Album in Country Music History
March 18, 2010
Taylor Swift’s six-times-Platinum FEARLESS album was officially recognized as the Most Awarded Album in the History of Country Music last night at a private dinner in Nashville.

FEARLESS is the only album in history to win the all-genre Album of The Year GRAMMY, plus Country Album of the Year Awards from the GRAMMYs, the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the American Music Awards.

Representatives from NARAS, The American Music Awards, The Country Music Association, and the Academy of Country Music all joined Big Machine Records Group President/CEO Scott Borchetta for an unprecedented group presentation honoring Taylor for her achievement.

FEARLESS, released in 2008, has won every album award in the country music genre, and was named all-genre Album of the Year at the 2010 GRAMMY Awards. Taylor, who turned 20 in December, was the youngest artist in history to win the music industry’s coveted top prize and she is also the award’s first-ever solo female country winner, and the first solo female winner in more than a decade. Taylor wrote or co-wrote every song on FEARLESS.

“We tend to always look forward when it comes to Taylor, but tonight it was time to stop for a moment and look back on one of the most successful music works of all time,” said Scott Borchetta of the historic evening. “The 18 months of our lives known as the ‘Fearless’ era have been history-making, euphoric and triumphant. The sales, the airplay, the accolades and the awards have all just been incredible. But, most important to me is that my friend Taylor and her collective team of family, record label, management and her road family continue to raise the bar with work ethic, achievement and enjoyment. Dreams do come true.”

Taylor was also honored at last night’s event for:

* More than 13 Million in total record sales
* More than 25 Million Digital Downloads
* The 6X Platinum (6 Million) Certification of FEARLESS
* FEARLESS as the #1 selling album in the US in both 2008 & 2009
* The 5X Platinum (5 Million) Certification of Taylor Swift
* The #1 and #2 positions atop Nielsen’s BDS 2009 Top 10 Most Played Songs chart (all genres), with “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story”
* The #1 spots on both the 2009 Top 10 Artist Airplay chart (all genres) and the Top 10 Artist Internet Streams chart.
* Her four most recent #1 singles (“Should’ve Said No,” “Love Story,” “White Horse,” and “You Belong With Me”)

This week also marks Taylor’s 10th consecutive Top 10 Country single, and with that she becomes the only female artist in the 66 year history of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart to score at least five Top 10s apiece from her first two major album releases. Taylor is currently nominated for four 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, and tonight she returns to her home state of Pennsylvania to continue her FEARLESS 2010 Tour with the first of two sold-out shows at the Wachovia Center. Presented by American Greetings, the 40-date tour visits arenas and stadiums in 32 cities in 26 states and provinces in the US and Canada over the next 3 months.

A complete listing of tour dates is available at www.taylorswift.com

Taylor is a four-time GRAMMY winner, the top-selling digital artist in music history, has had singles top both the Country and Pop radio charts, and had the #1 best-selling album in any genre of music in both 2009 and 2008. This year she became the youngest artist in history to win the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. Also at the 2010 GRAMMYs, she took home the awards for Country Album of the Year, Best Country Song, and Best Country Female Vocal Performance.

In 2009, she was named Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, and also became the youngest artist in the 43-year history of the Country Music Association to win the CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year.

Taylor currently holds the Billboard all-genre records for most first-week downloads by a female artist, for the longest charting album of this century and for most Top 20 debuts in a calendar year, as well as the Billboard record for the largest overall airplay audience for a country-based act.
